The list of “gayest cities” in America caught our eye, so it got us to thinking, what is considered the gayest car in early 2012?

We turned to our usual place for discerning views on all things gay involving cars: Gaywheels.com. And sure enough, they seem to have found what they consider the gayest car. At least so far in 2012. And especially on the East coast.

The website’s answer is sure to bust a stuffy stereotype. It’s the sleek Audi A6 Series.  No one said price was an issue here. But since we’re talking about individuals, after all, the website also notes that there are different cars for particular folks:

Certain gay communities seem to prefer certain cars. The leather-and-Levis set loves a good truck; butch gals enjoy anything with 4×4, and for reasons yet to be explained, bears adore the tiniest of cars, like the Mini Cooper and the Mazda Miata. (This bodes well for the Fiat 500, no?)

And so, we weren’t really surprised yesterday when someone suggested that the black on black Audi A6 is the unofficial gay car of the East coast. After all, communities can be tied to geography just as easily as body type, so it makes sense that up-and-comers in the East would be drawn to the sleek, high-profile elegance of the A6.

Well, it’s just one opinion, and we did see that Gaywheels attended the big Detroit show this week, so maybe 2013 will bring a new one.
